One of the biggest challenges of redesigning and reorganizing the Iroquois Steeplechase website was the sheer amount of content. In addition to content reorganization (handled exclusively by Engage Media Group) the challenge of taking a traditional and somewhat conservative event, and giving it a modern, young look and feel.
After having the pleasure of assisting with the live Tweet to screen, and live Instagram portions of the 2012 Iroquois Steeplechase (in partnership with Engage Media Group) my team was chosen to redesign the new site.
I chose a black and dark silver color scheme to bring a rich elegance to the site. I wanted a beautiful, understated palette to show off the gorgeous photography. The team at Iroquois Steeplechase was absolutely great during the arduous process, helping us to reorganize, giving suggestions on design, and especially on the flow and paring down of the written content.
The Bradford group and their amazing photographers provided such gorgeous content for me to work with, that at times it was hard to choose! With such great content to work with, both visually and written, our goal was to give each type of web surfer a place to go. As we know, some people are visual, and some like to read. By providing several options for navigating the site, we’ve presented the material in different manners.
This was most certainly one very fun project! I am happy with the results, and have really enjoyed learning about the traditions embodied by the Iroquois Steeplechase.
